My hex editor, XVI32, can´t search for a float value to my knowledge. If it can, please tell me how. And if you don´t use XVI32, which one do you use?

I wouldn´t be interested as I´ve figured out how to change it as well. Right now I have mine set to 10000 m/s. I also tried to see how fast you could go and accidently created a speed that no tradelane can ever reach. But hey, that´s just me.

Sorry, but no, I don´t have AIM. Also, I´m agreeing with Bejaymac, and am not going to tell how it´s done until I feal the modding community is ready for it. The reason I say this is because of the idiots out there that would use it as a cheat code. And if that did happen, it would probably be like the whole cloaking thing again. Just to keep this running: What about creating new "... SPACE" entries? I doubt that could be used to cheat and would really be a new feature for any mod. You said it is possible?

Open up Rescource.dll with the Reshacker, and it´s one of the strings. (Post later which ones)

RIght, that would be a solution, but only a partial one. After all, by editing those entries, you edit both the text that appears in certain systems in original Freelancer plus you edit the texts on the universe map. But you can´t assign the IDs to other systems then in orig. FL and you can´t create new ones. So, the EXE would be the next thing to look at.

That doesn´t seem like it would be in the .exe. It would be more in content.dll or common.dll, wouldn´t it? I mean, the .exe is only to make everything run, and fill in the few variable holes, while the many other .dlls are for imputing data like the .inis.

Okay, maybe I have to widen my approach. But nevertheless this topic is named "EXE and DLL mods". So the question remains.

No, the ... Space thing is at least partially EXE based. I could only change the positions of the names on the Sirius Nav Map with a EXE mod Alcander made for me. So, at least the position is EXE bases. MK

Wow. Again, this is some real progress. Right, if the position of the names on the universe map is EXE based, then I think the definition wich system belongs to wich colony is also there. If Alcander would fill us in on that one, that would be a huge step towards creating new colonies or assigning the systems to different ones.

Alcander Can you see if it´s possible for a cargo increaser to work by changeing something in the exe or a dll? I ask because of umm This Also because i´m 13 and have no clue how to hex edit Can you help figure this out?

@5i1 1) Alchanders practicly gone, so we do everything ourselves now, and 2) to increase the cargo hold size, all you do is open up shiparch.ini (after being decompressed), find te ship you want, and change this little line to what ever you want; hold_s

I´m not gone per se. I´ve been lurking, reading interesting posts and the like. Like the cargo increasers thread. I´ve looked into this and its probably possible but I haven´t made any sort of method/system which would allow it as of yet. I´ve got a handle on most of my work now so I´m finishing up things - like the ALE decoding and the like.

OH MY GOODNESS alcander you´re a genius...I wouldn´t have thought of using a Hex Editor but now that I know about it, I can MAKE SENSE of the infocards.dll. It´s no longer meaningless numbers....sheesh with Hex Editors you can do just about everything can´t you? *starts decoding FL EXE* (by the way I´m learning fast for a new modder =) TY for discovering all this before I started modding lol. ) You better not touch that button. *touch* Great, you just deleted the best mod ever. What mod? Too late now. You deleted it.

I read through all 10 pages (took me an hour or so...) and was surprised to see so little suggestions based on MP chat. I don´t know about you guys, but chat spammers have always, always, ALWAYS bugged me. I would love to see a mod that invloved something like this... It would be a seperate screen in the options window or chat window or w/e. It would have a little area you could type player´s names in and an area for a list of selected players you´ve typed in. Every player you would enter into this list would be on an "ignore" list... Then you wouldn´t have to deal with those buggers. Everything that player would say would be blocked out. If they tried to pm you, they would get a message that said "THIS GUY IS IGNORING YOU!!!". Or something of that nature. A chat filter would also be nice. So, if activated, it would bleep out any profain words people may type in chat. It would replace a "profain word" with something like #$%. I get most of my ideas from World of Warcraft. The way they have system chat set up is beyond brilliant. To be able to listen and talk to who you want would be VERY nice. Of course, this would require the making of a new window... But you guys can make new ships from nothing, why not make a new window from nothing? Or at least use something that´s already there. A shiny new chat system would brighten anybody´s day... Especially mine!

I´m not trying to sound rude, but you can do all that with any instant messanger. Yah, it would be nice to have a FIM (Freelancer Instant Messenger), but I doubt anyone´s going to as go that far to do something like that.

@Alcander You seems to be an expert here. Perhaps you can take a look to the "Attack Zone needed " topic. I use the Solurus-Mod and I cant bring the new Solurus factions to fight to a regular faction. Perhaps you have an idea why it dont works.
